Altman, Nathan
(1889-1970)
   Ukrainian painter, sculptor and stage designer. He settled in St Petersburg and became head of the city's section of the Department of Fine Arts. From 1918-22 he developed a constructivist style. After 1929 he lived in France, but later returned to the USSR. His work was influenced by Jewish themes and includes paintings, sculptures, graphic art and stage-designs.
